    This Stoplight Makes No Sense

There is a dedicated lane for right turns off eastbound Jericho Turnpike onto southbound Glen Cove Road. It has its own traffic signal, but it has two distinctly separate light phases, which I cannot comprehend. The lane is unidirectional – right turns only. You can’t go straight; you can’t make a left turn. All traffic through this “ramp” goes right. Furthermore, there are two, “No Turn On Red,” signs that contradict the signal, since a red light displays alongside a green, right-turn arrow. Having been struck by cars in Nassau County twice last winter, first on November 16th as a… read more

    1 Corinthians 10:12-13

“So, if you think you are standing firm, be careful that you don’t fall! No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can endure it.” Your voice keeps trying to convince me that you’re god. Ya gotta knock that off, love. If I considered every voice I’ve heard inside my head over the astrals since Saturday, February 18, 2023 to be a deity, I’d be a… read more

    Rite Aid, Wrong Time

Yesterday, I was strolling about, when I came upon this beleaguered Rite Aid on Post Avenue. You’ll recall back in August 2023, I paid homage to a Rite Aid on Merrick Blvd in South Jamaica during its final hours of operation: Rite Aid was once a formidable competitor to Walgreens and CVS, especially in the Northeast. Walgreens attempted to buy the chain outright back in 2017, but the FTC wouldn’t approve it. Instead, they were allowed to acquire & rebrand about half of the existing stores. Rite Aid hasn’t been the same ever since, and now Walgreens is also struggling,… read more

Our Lady of Hope, 10AM Tomorrow

They don’t sing at the 8:30AM mass, and the silence made me a little uneasy. I can’t explain it. Must be the ScHiZoPhReNiA 😘 I’m gonna meander over to Mystique for the senior citizens’ early bird special; hopefully land a good spot to Shop me some Photos. I brought my meds and fed the cat extra, if you want me to spend the night. It’s almost camping season! The only time I ever remember you talking about church was when you went to the Unitarian one back in San Antonio. They’re a bit unorthodox; but at least they don’t lure… read more

Even Google Maps Is In On Teh Spookeh

I’ve been using Google Maps for over two decades. My motor memory still types “local.google.com” on desktop PCs. Never once had it recommend a walking route through a cemetery. After dark. It’s just Halloween all year ‘round, out here in your Spooky Little Village, innit? read more

I ran over to Walgreens to pick up a script before Stations of the Cross at Our Lady of Hope @ 7. Came back to find the most cinematic sunset at The Overpass, so I seized the opportunity which God gave me to rejoice in His awesomeness. Prescription won’t be ready until Monday. This is how it all started…

Twenty years ago, in 2002, I fell in love and never fell out. We reconciled in 2004. I broke off contact in 2005, because I was too selfish, afraid, and stupid to maintain a long-distance relationship. We ping’ed in 2019, with a full-blown reconnect in 2023. I was in the midst of a psychiatric/spiritual/existential crisis. She helped me. Seemingly scorned and misreading my mind over the astral plane, she then tried to hurt me for my follies & transgressions in the past, but God intervened. I love you, My Darling Eternal.
